We had the privilege of going to see Serena Ryder Wednesday March 24, front row center. It was such an amazing experience. Royal Wood from Toronto opened up for her. His soothing melodies and talented piano playing set the mood for the young firecracker. When Serena took the stage, Amanda eyes filled with tears of joy and love. One of her most favourite singers, Serena performed with such amazing talent and sprit swaying in the seat and singing along could not be helped. We didn’t take our high end pro cameras, in fear we’d look too obvious or ruin the experince for the other people beside us. We took our smaller backup slr and a fast lens, which didn’t auto focus. Yes folks thats right, focusing, metering and composing on the fly old school. It was uplifing and inspiring to compose the shots and listen to her perform her passion.
She made a very critical point that, way to fast, at an extreme rate, we’re loosing the human experience. We spend more time typing, texting, watching tv, and not talking, instead of going and seeing the artists we love. She is right, we’re loosing our sense of community. We’ve go to get out, go to community events, see our favorite local bands, art shows, photographers, visit the library, go to our local markets and interact with the real world around us.
We left her show feeling joy, love and inspiration. We hope you enjoy all of the photos we’ve attached to this post.
